Soldiers deployed to galamsey areas beats galamsey operators for disobeying government orders.
As part of Nana Akufo-Addo’s decision to fight against galamsey activities in Ghana, 200 military personnel were dispatched by the government to flush out illegal miners on Ghana’s water bodies and forest.
These military personnel are to destroy every single illegal mining (galamsey) site across the country and also to burn excavators.
The exercise christened “Operation Halt” has also led to the harassment of two young guys who went to a site to work despite government ban on galamsey.
A video going viral on all social media platforms shows military personnels also known as operation vanguard, handcuffing and canning young guys who were caught doing galamsey in a forest.
