An collision between an Accra-Kumasi bound bus and a cargo truck at Konongo in the Ashanti Region resulted in the deaths of 13 people and the hospitalization of eleven more.
There are 9 males and 4 females among the dead.
Last night, about 10:40 p.m., an accident occurred.
The injured have been taken to the Konongo Government Hospital, while the dead have been taken to the mortuary.
DSP Paa Yeboah, the Konongo MTTD Commander, verified the event to Citi News this morning.
When the accident occurred, one of the automobiles attempted to overtake another vehicle, according to him.
“The Cargo Truck was traveling from Kumasi to Accra, while the OA Bus was traveling from Accra to Wa with passengers, however the bus wasn’t completely full. There were 26 people on board, including the passengers, the driver, and the mate.”
“There was a truck ahead of the bus that collided into the other in the front part in an attempt to overtake, and both cars ended up in a ditch. “On the spot, 13 individuals perished and roughly 11 others were injured.”
According to him, the bodies of the deceased have been taken and photographed so that family members can identify them.
This year alone, almost 1,000 people have been killed in traffic accidents across the country.
