There has been a lot of pressure on the leaders of all the African countries since coup d’etat arose in Guinea.
The President of the Transition, His Excellency Assimi GOITA, Head of State granted an audience this Tuesday, September 07, 2021, to His Excellency Goodluck JONHTAN, Mediator of ECOWAS, accompanied by a large delegation, made up of ten people of the Sub-regional Organization.
We are indeed there for a mission following the multidimensional political crisis in Mali and we come very often to Mali, to find a solution to this crisis, indicated His Excellency Goodluck JONHTANE, the Mediator of ECOWAS.
“We had frank discussions with the Prime Minister and part of the political class, civil society… .etc.”, Said, the ECOWAS Mediator, as he left the hearing.
The fundamental question today, he continued, is to be able to put in place a situation where we can go to the elections because that is the main concern of the actors that we have been able to meet.
“It is about making sure, to be able to organize well, to prepare the elections well so that we can at the end of the Transition, have a new democratically elected President and a government in place to run affairs in Mali”, concluded His Excellency Goodluck JONHTANE, the ECOWAS Mediator at the end of his mission in Mali.
It should also be noted that this meeting is being held at a time when voices are rising more and more, everywhere in the country, inside and outside, to demand the extension of the Transition given the persistence. certain major challenges, including the fight against insecurity, impunity, and corruption.
These last two components are already experiencing encouraging results and the President of the Transition insisted on the consideration by ECOWAS of the aspirations of the Malian people and placed particular emphasis on Institutional reforms without which the ideals of the foundation would be in vain. words.
The fundamental question will have been to harmonize the aspirations of the Malian people and the principles of the Organization, which is all the more essential as ECOWAS must take into account this overriding factor in the resolution of the Malian crisis.
Regarding the situation prevailing in the Republic of Guinea Conakry, what is important to know is not to rush to make observations of statements, also, the current President of ECOWAS, the President of the Republic of Ghana has indeed convened a summit of heads of state tomorrow and that it would be necessary to await the holding of the summit in question, indicated the Mediator of ECOWAS.
It was in the presence of H.E.M Shirley AYORKOR BOTCHWEY, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ghana, President of the Council of Ministers of ECOWAS, and H.E.M Jean Claude KASSI BROU, President of the ECOWAS Commission, all members of the delegation.
Are the citizens of African countries going to see positive changes after the pressure is over.
