The Queen-mother and acting President of the Effutuakwa Traditional Area in Assin Fosu, Central Region, Nana Afransi IV has requested President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to guarantee that homosexuality is not legalized under his reign.
According to her, the government must ensure that the anti-LGBTQ+ measure, which prohibits same-sex marriage in the country, is voted into law.
She has petitioned the president to instruct Members of Parliament to pass the anti-LGBTQ bill, claiming that Ghanaians are opposed to the LGBTQ+ community’s activities.
When the President visited her at the palace in Assin Fosu as part of his two-day business visit to the Central Region, she informed him of this.
“Our culture and conventions do not tolerate gay activities,” Nana Afransi IV stated. “Please Nana Addo, it is your time that homosexual activities have begun and become widespread.”
