Recently upon the Coup d’etat in Guinea the UN, the AU, the ECOWAS, the Presidents of Ghana, the Gambia, Nigeria, Liberia, France, Russia, and many others have condemned it and are calling for the respect of the Constitutions.
The problem is when Alpha Conde tailored the constitutions in the last elections and went for the third unconstitutional term why were they silent about it? Similar constitutional manipulations happened with Bah Ndaw in Mali and Idriss Déby in Chad yet they turned a blind eye.
When a brave man gets up and uses force to deal with the constitution like colonel Mamady Doumbouya, it becomes unconstitutional; like Assimi Goita, it becomes unconstitutional; like Mahamat Idris Déby, it becomes unconstitutional. Are world leaders going to set terrible precedence of bowing before injustice?
