The former Member of Parliament for Assin North Constituency Honorable Abena Durowaa Mensah finally appears before the chiefs and elders of Assin Bereku.
As a reminder, the former member of parliament for Assin North Constituency Constituency, Honorable Abena Druwaa Mensah and her party executives after 2020 elections had a press conference to address the people of Assin North Constituency on her defeat in the 2020 election.
In her meeting with the press, Hon. Abena Durowaa Mensah said that the Chiefs and elders of Assin Bereku contributed to her massive defeat in the 2020 parliamentary election. She added that almost all the Chiefs and elders of Assin Bereku campaigned against her during the campaign season.
According to her, the Chiefs and elders of Assin Bereku did not look at her contributions and hard work to Assin Bereku community and Assin North Constituency as a whole, but campaigned against her on tribalism.
She added that, the Chiefs and elders of Assin Bereku seriously campaigned for her NDC opponents, Honorable James Joe Quayson because he is a native of Assin Bereku and they voted on that line.
After her press conference, Chiefs and elders (Nananom) of Assin Bereku on 20th December, 2020 came out to reply the member of parliament for her allegations against Nananom.
Nananom replied that Hon. Abena Durowaa Mensah lost the seat base on her incompetence in her time of office as the member of parliament. And that, she must redraw the statement she made publicly.
On Tuesday 1st June, 2021, Abena Durowaa Mensah together with some leadership of the New Patriotic Party from the Central Region appeared before the chief palace to apologise for any inconveniences her statement has caused to Nananom.
According to Abena, none of the things she said in the press conference meant insults to the chiefs and elders of Assin Bereku as bloggers published.
I was only expressing my disappointment to the people of Assin North for voting against me upon all the developmental projects I started in just four years, she said.
“With all due respect, I am asking all the chiefs and elders (Nananom) to consider me as a child and to for forgive me, Abena Durowaa Mensah finally added.
