A Ghanaian based in United States of America, Kofi Ntim has said that it is unfair for Ghanaians to blame current NPP administration for unemployment among the citizens.
He said that, nobody should think that unemployment problem is the creation of the current NPP administration. It started after the overthrown of the first President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah who had vision to create jobs for the future generations.
The case worsen by the Flight Lieutenant Jerry John Rawlings and Kwesi Botchwey in 1982 and 1983 with the structural adjustment program, divestiture implementation program of PNDC/NDC.
Program that will completed by Kuffour’s NPP with the selling of Ghana Telecom and Ghana Airways. Then in 2009 Attah Mills put a freeze on civil service employment.
According to him, the issue of unemployment has been there since Nkrumah’s CPP was overthrown. The unemployment problems in Ghana started long before current administration. The only thing is that the current administration is not working hard enough to address the problem.
The unemployment problem has continued to date. Promises have been made by all governments and failed. Free Senior High School and increased admission at the universities will continue to add the projected 300,000 unemployed yearly into the country.
This is going to increase exponentially every crime category in the country especially armed robberies, internet crimes. How prepared is Ghana ready to face these challenges.
