The Provisional List of candidates for the New Patriotic Party to contest upcoming by-election hits online today Sunday, August 1st, 2021.
By-Election, as ordered by Cape Coast High Court on Wednesday, July 28th, 2021, the New Patriotic Party constituency executives in Assin North, have started working on who leads the party as a parliamentary candidate to win the seat back for the party.
The NPP is working on it as early as possible because they’ve come to realize how new their candidates will be to the people of Assin North Constituency.
Mr. Antwi Boasiako is one of the candidates whose contributions to the party started way back in the year 2012 when the constituency was an orphan.
He partially supported both the Polling Station Executives and the Constituency Executives elections with cash in diverse ways.
He also adopted one Pooling Station during the 2016 national elections and was involved in party demonstrations before the 2016 elections.
He participated in the 2020 NPP primaries in the Assin North constituency and humbly supported the former member of parliament, Hon. Abena Durowa Mensah after he lost the contest.
During the registration for the 2020 elections, his pickup car was used in the mobilization and transportation of Pooling Station officials across the constituency.
Another gentleman who is likely to make a lot of difference is Dr. James Darko. He also contested NPP parliamentary primaries in 2015 and was part of vibrant party members who campaigned day and night till the party won both parliamentary and presidential seats in 2016.
Dr. James Darko was seen everywhere in Assin North Constituency before, during, and after the 2020 elections.
Fredrick Freeman Amoah-Kyei also has his name on the provisional list as far as the proposed by-election is concerned. He has been supporting the New Patriotic Party financially at the constituency level.
More than fifty percent of Assin North NPP constituency executive members are in support of Fredrick Freeman Amoah-Kyei just because he’s from the District capital, Assin Bereku where he can pull more votes if given the nod.
As of now, the New Patriotic Party leadership has not yet included the name of the former member of parliament, Hon. Abena Durowaa Mensah, who lost the seat to then NDC parliamentary candidate, Hon. James Gyekye Quayson in the 2020 elections.
This is a provisional list of candidates and one of them is likely to lead the NPP into this contest.
