Angry Dansame residents threaten to stop road contractors from working, watch the full video.
Residents of Assin Dansame in the Assin North constituency have threatened to stop the contractor in charge of the construction of the Praso to Yamoransa highway if he fails to pay their compensation.
The aggrieved residents have expressed concerns about how the contractor has made them homeless.
According to some residents, the District Chief Executive (DCE) together with the contractor had a meeting with them and assured them their compensation before they permitted the contractor to destroy their buildings and other properties.
Some said, their names and phone numbers were recorded to be contacted by the DCE for immediate compensation to fix the buildings which were demolished.
For almost six months now, none of the residents whose buildings were affected due to the road construction has received a call from the District Chief Executive (DCE) concerning their compensation as he vowed to them.
Meanwhile, the contractor is working on the project while the residents are made to face the consequences.
The heavy rains that occurred on Wednesday 23rd June 2021 nearly killed an old lady and her grandchildren who were at that moment sleeping.
A 95-year-old woman by the name of Auntie Yaa had six rooms and four out of the six were made to be demolished by the contractor leaving her and her grandchildren two to settle.
The contractor out of his negligence did not give direction for water to pass through whenever there’s rain and it goes straight to Auntie Yaa’s house to cause damage to the two staying rooms.
The collapse of her two remaining rooms has provoked the people of Assin Dansame to demand their compensation and warn the staffers to stop operating until the woman in question is provided accommodation.
