Three Communities In Assin South Set To Go On Principal Streets To Demonstrate Over Their Bad Road And Its 5 Years Washed Away Bridge
Residents in Assin Asano, Aben and Mmorho all in the Assin South district of the Central Region have threatened to troop onto the principal streets of Assin South to demonstrate to express their grievances on how they are suffering on their deplorable roads as well as their bridge which bridges the communities together have not been attended to since it was being washed away by a heavy flood in April 2016.
Information gathered revealed that, school children who school at Assin Jakai, a 3.5km community from Assin Asano are always prevented by the flood from returning to their various homes whenever it rains and until the flood goes down, nobody including the parents will know the whereabout of these children making schooling at the area difficult for the school children.
Agric officers were in Asano educating we the farmers on how to plant Cocoa and take good care of them and unfortunately, there was a heavy downpour which caused the flood and washed away the bridge one of the residents explained.
They stressed that, the car the officers came with was blocked for three days before they were able to find means to let it cross the river.
They said, they have reported it to the then District Chief Executive Officer, Hon Owusu Ambrose as well as the Member of Parliament Hon.Rev John Ntim Fordjour in which they all promised to fixed the bridge but the story still remains the same hence,the decision to go onto the streets to demonstrate to express their grievances.
