The Deputy Minister of Education, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour who doubles as MP for Assin South Constituency has revealed that the particular cost of the laptops to be distributed to teachers is GHS1,550 only.
The Hon. Member speaking to Umaru Sanda Amadu on Face to Face at Citi news yesterday, Tuesday 7th September 2021, the Honourable Deputy Minister of Education indicated that the entire cost of the local made Teacher Mate (TM1) is costing only GH¢1550 each.
Which Teachers are to pay only 30% of the value. He explained that staring at the negotiation of the procurement of the laptops, the government is paying all the 100%.
The Minister further explained that the 30% percent to be paid by teachers isn’t from their salary but rather from their professional allowance.
He repeated that money will be deducted directly from this year’s Teachers’ professional allowance.
Meanwhile, the president of the National Association of Graduate Teachers NAGRAT, Mr. Angel Carbonu has stated that the entire cost of every Laptop is GH¢1,831.47.
Out of this, the Teacher is now getting to pay GHc549.44 only as 30% of the value of the Laptop, which is very affordable.
